What is Biodynamic Breathwork and Trauma Release System?
“BioDynamic Breathwork & Trauma Release System® (BBTRS®) is built around a 6-Element approach that supports your body’s natural process for releasing chronic tension and emotional trauma. It opens the way for feelings of joy, deep relaxation, and intimacy with self and others” – Biodynamic Breathwork Institute
6 elements:
- Breath
- Movement
- Touch
- Sound
- Emotions
- Meditation
BBTRS is designed in a series to open and balance your whole mind-body system. The complete series includes approximately seven sessions that release trauma from specific “belts of tension” throughout the body. However, you also can use the BBTRS process in a more focused way to hone in on specific issues and specific parts of the bodies. For example, you might choose to address a part of your body that is holding pain or tension, or you might want to explore how a certain experience has been filed away, or held up in your body.
Typical session format:
- Sessions usually take place on the ground on comfortable mat
- An initial discussion and check-in
- Guidance into continuous, deep, connected breathing (I sometimes describe it as “circular breathing”) that charges up your body, activating what is right under the surface while tuning into felt sense
- Close attuned guidance, containment and support including music, verbal cues, touch, and movement and vocalization support—all to facilitate deep physical, emotional, and energetic release.
- A few rounds of “pendulating” into activation and movement then down into “grounding”, which allows for release, expanding window of tolerance, and resetting of the nervous system
- An ending meditation/integration period
